if there’s one surefire way to measure if you’re getting older or not, it’s this: the number of weddings you get invited to per year. (incidentally, you can also measure your overall popularity by the number of weddings you’re invited to as well. just kidding. kind of.) but seriously, when your friends start getting married, you know that life is real.
and those two worlds collided this past weekend when i went to la for wedding, which also happened to be the same weekend as my birthday. so not only was i getting a reminder that i was getting older, but i actually WAS getting older. cool.
but if there’s one way to try and keep yourself young, it’s a trip to disneyland, which is exactly how i celebrated my 25th birthday. it was my first time to the happiest place on earth since probably fourth grade, and damn… it’s amazing. i want to go back. immediately.
oh, as a side note, after being at a wedding all day, and running around and dancing in a suit, i thought there was no better feeling in the world than showering afterwards… until i showered after being at disneyland all day. arguably the two best showers i’ve had in recent memory.
also i got a button from the disneyland guest services that proclaimed loudly that it was my birthday, which resulted in nearly every single disneyland employee wishing me a happy birthday. i’m not going to lie — it was kind of cool. i felt like a general walking around an army base, getting saluted by everyone.
anyway, it was a great weekend filled with lots of fun. and i reluctantly admit that i actually kind of like la sometimes. minus having to drive everywhere. and the traffic. and the pollution. but otherwise, it’s a fun place to visit.
and i’d like to thank those who made it out to my surprise birthday lunch, especially my old davis buds, to steve choi for being the disneyland tour guide, and to sareen for being the girlfriend to the disneyland tour guide.
