as you have probably heard by now, the world is coming to an end tomorrow, may 21. well, at least that’s what the word on the street is according to this guy.
now most of us find this whole thing ridiculous and stupid and even quite comical, but i think on some level, it’s actually sort of worrisome. not worrisome in the sense that the world might end (let’s just say i’m not exactly rushing to get my affairs in order by tomorrow), but i find it worrisome that so many people are on board with this guy and his movement.
it’s especially worth noting that this guy once predicted the end of the world back in 1994. as you can see, that didn’t quite pan out. and you would think that after he called a “my bad” after his first epic fail that his supporters would, well… stop supporting him. but what’s happened since then? he’s gotten even MORE supporters. how does THAT work? imagine if i told you that your life was going to end on X day, and then X day passed and you were still alive, and then i told you that i messed up my math and you were actually going to die on Y day instead. i’m sure you would still continue to believe me, and then when i asked you to give me money to support my cause, you would do that too, right?
what is wrong with people?? if there was ever a sign that this world really IS in trouble, it would be that there are those who still continue to believe and support this guy.
and for a group of devout christians, they clearly seem to have forgotten this…
“but about that day or hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” -matthew 24:36
still, all this talk about the end of the world gives good reason to relive one of the greatest movie songs ever. enjoy. see you next week, hopefully.
